In March 2014, We initiated a workshop in a village of Hazaribagh district of Jharkhand for which 27 people came forward, they were in age group of 14-55 years.
We taught them how to do surveys in village and how to file RTI if they face any issue or administrative lethargy in works of rural development.
After that a group including girls and boys was formed , this group selected a slum and started working extensively. The slum mainly had two issues
- They were not getting ration due to corruption among ration shop vendors
- Road leading to the slum was in very bad condition.
So a boy named Shivshankar of the group filed two RTI regarding these issues. After that higher officials took notice of these applications and the slum. Very soon Shop vendors were strictly made to give proper ration to slum people to adopt transparency in distributing ration and also the blockages of road, small pits were filled and improved its condition.
They are still working in their region for rural development.
